A Japanese venue address copied into a generic international setup form can leave a power-bank project unready before a customer ever presents a card. Japan needs its own Location data and payment acceptance review. Prepare those inputs first, then ask the integration team to demonstrate them with the actual country configuration.
Put access and regional acceptance ahead of procurement
Stripe currently labels Terminal in Japan Preview and lists WisePad 3 in its reader table. Confirm access for the actual Japanese account, local reader procurement and the proposed venue scenario before committing to a launch date. JPY transactions require a Japanese receiving account and reader Location.
CoreCharge has completed its standard matched WisePad 3 integration: the native Android rental application and Terminal SDK run on the cabinet’s internal controller. The reader uses the agreed USB connection and cabinet power, without an external merchant phone. That established architecture is not evidence that Japan-specific address handling, reader configuration and local acceptance have already passed. Agree and test that additional scope explicitly.
Have the venue approve the Location information
Japan’s Terminal Location uses kana and kanji address fields rather than the generic address field. Stripe requires one or both address forms and an accepted display-name field. Have an authorized local person review the actual venue data, including building and unit details, before the integration team submits it.
| Readiness item | Input or check | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|---|
| Account access | Japanese operator account and confirmed Preview eligibility. | Authorized confirmation, without credentials. |
| Venue spelling | Approved kana and/or kanji address and display name. | Reviewed source data and resulting Location reference. |
| Yen amount | Customer tariff, order calculation and payment request. | Matching JPY values in a controlled test. |
| Payment acceptance | Supported international contactless methods. | Observed method and outcome for each test. |
| Regional integration | Country configuration, reader software and cabinet workflow. | Actual connection, release, return and payment result. |
The sheet is a proposed project deliverable, not an automatically generated CoreCharge report. It gives the local operator and engineering team a shared acceptance target. Keep production keys outside it. A second reviewer should compare the approved venue record with the resulting Location, not merely confirm that a form saved successfully. Record any correction before acceptance.
Verify JPY without importing a decimal assumption
Stripe treats JPY as a zero-decimal currency. In an illustrative amount test, JPY 500 should remain 500 yen through the customer display, rental calculation and payment request; a two-decimal currency’s multiplication rule should not be copied blindly. These figures illustrate amount handling, not a recommended rental price.
The integration team should test the representation, while venue staff review the customer-facing meaning. Include the billing interval, any free time, cap and authorization explanation. Confirm the supported capture design separately; a correctly formatted yen amount does not guarantee a future non-return charge.
Do not equate every Japanese contactless wallet with the reader route
Stripe distinguishes international contactless networks from local networks such as iD and QUICPay. Terminal supports the international route; a supported brand logo alone does not prove that a particular local-network card or wallet presentation will work. Avoid a sign promising every contactless method.
Prepare a method-by-method test list and record what actually processed. Reader approval, bank release, return recognition and final rent are separate checkpoints. Stripe processes funds into the operator’s own account; CoreCharge links the rental and device events. The end-to-end validation guide provides a useful evidence structure.
Release the pack when the local configuration is demonstrated
Review Japanese instructions, receipt arrangements and support with the venue. Confirm reader suitability for the intended staffed or unattended setting. Use the test-to-live checklist once the Japan-specific inputs have passed.
