A required reader update can interrupt a busy rental counter even when the cabinet itself is healthy. For a Singapore power-bank operator, planned reader maintenance should protect existing borrowers, keep the payment state understandable and finish with a small acceptance test. It should not become an improvised attempt to update every component at once.

Define exactly what will change

Record the station, reader identity, installed reader software and the reason for maintenance. Distinguish reader software from the cabinet’s Android application, controller firmware and communication module. Success on one component is not evidence that all others were updated, or that every model supports the same remote procedure.

Stripe’s Singapore guidance lists WisePad 3, SGD Terminal transactions and the matching local account and reader Location requirements. Check its current reader software guidance rather than keeping an old version number as a permanent target. The operator retains its own eligible Singapore Stripe account.

Protect open rentals before the reader becomes unavailable

Review active orders and the support route for customers holding power banks. Decide how new borrowing will be paused under the actual configured process, and what returns remain possible. Do not assume that a reader update preserves every customer-facing function or that a cabinet can operate without power or connectivity.

CoreCharge links orders, dispensing, returns, pricing and dashboard records. Stripe processes the financial operations into the operator’s account. A maintenance note must preserve those references so an uncertain payment can be checked without asking the customer to present their card repeatedly.

Maintenance checkpoint Operator action Release condition
Before the window Record active rentals and nominate the support owner. Existing borrowers have a clear help route.
Before installation Confirm the intended reader, stable power and connection. The agreed update process can proceed without customer use.
During installation Observe the reported state and keep the reader connected. A verified outcome, not merely elapsed time.
After reconnection Check identity, account environment and Location. The intended reader reconnects to the intended setup.
Before reopening Run the agreed controlled rental checks. Payment, bank release, return and final amount agree.

Use the supported update process

Stripe’s Android reader guidance distinguishes optional updates from updates required at connection. It describes progress and result handling, and instructs keeping the reader connected during installation. A required update can delay or prevent a normal connection. Confirm what the installed cabinet application displays and how the integration team handles failure.

In the matched CoreCharge route, the native Android rental application and Terminal SDK run on the cabinet controller, connected to WisePad 3 through the agreed USB data and power arrangement. An external staff phone is not the ordinary payment host. Do not substitute a random charger, alter wiring or interrupt an update as a troubleshooting shortcut.

Reconnect, then accept only what you tested

Check the reader serial, correct Singapore configuration and cabinet status after the update. Use the approved controlled payment procedure to follow one bank from release through return. Match the order with the Stripe result and check the customer instructions. A connected status alone does not establish a completed rental.

Rehearse any relevant failure scenario in the appropriate test environment. If the update did not finish or the financial result is uncertain, keep the case open and follow technical support’s process. Do not mark every earlier open rental complete simply because the reader reconnected.

Close the maintenance record

Keep the before-and-after versions, result, acceptance evidence and reopening authority. This can be a controlled operator record; it is not a promise of built-in fleet scheduling or automatic device email alerts. Confirm the reader’s intended venue use independently of software readiness.

The station acceptance manual supplies broader checks. The post-return payment guide helps classify any open financial issue carried through the window.
