A guest remembers borrowing a power bank from a hotel-branded station. Later, the banking app shows an unfamiliar business name. The amount may be correct, but the guest does not recognise the merchant. The answer begins before launch: decide how the cabinet brand, rental operator and payment account are explained together.

For an Italian project, prepare a merchant-recognition sheet. It records the actual customer-facing identity on each surface and the person authorised to maintain it. This is different from translating the tariff or planning return locations.

Identify the business receiving the rental payment

Stripe’s Italy regional guide specifies EUR, an appropriate Italian receiving account and local Terminal Location, with WisePad 3 listed. The operator buys and registers the eligible reader through its own account. A hotel hosting a cabinet does not automatically become the payment merchant.

CoreCharge’s matched configuration runs the native Android rental application and Terminal SDK inside the cabinet, using the agreed USB data connection and reader power. A separate merchant phone is unnecessary for normal operation. Stripe processes rental funds in the operator’s account; CoreCharge connects the payment to orders, release, return and pricing.

Confirm the intended attended or semi-attended arrangement and reader suitability before opening. Branding work does not establish approval for a fully unattended installation or alter who owns the payment account.

Compare the identity at each touchpoint

Customer surface Review Evidence to retain
Cabinet and welcome screen Can the guest identify the rental service and operator? Approved product branding and service wording
Payment account public details Do support details belong to the actual merchant? Owner-reviewed configuration record
Statement descriptor Is the permitted configured name recognisable? Approved descriptor and a controlled payment reference
Receipt route Can the guest obtain the available receipt? Tested delivery or retrieval procedure
Customer support Can staff connect the station brand to the merchant name? Short explanation and order lookup steps

Keep the actual legal and commercial relationships accurate. Do not replace required merchant information with a venue logo or imply that the hotel collects the rent when the operator receives it. Have the authorised account owner review the payment configuration.

Test recognition without promising one universal bank display

Inspect the configured descriptor and the result of an authorised controlled payment. Record the payment reference and the customer-visible presentation without collecting full card details. Ask a fresh reviewer whether the name can reasonably be connected to the station they used.

Stripe explains that issuers may display their own friendly merchant names, using mapping systems Stripe does not control. Therefore, do not guarantee identical spelling, logos or presentation in every banking app. Investigate a mismatch by checking the actual merchant data and then the issuer’s presentation.

Changing the cabinet’s logo alone should not be assumed to update the payment account’s public details or statement descriptor. Treat these as separate reviewed surfaces with a common owner.

Offer a receipt route the integration can deliver

Stripe’s Terminal receipt guidance describes receipt options for in-person payments. Agree which route is provided by the actual station configuration and demonstrate it during acceptance. An email receipt requires the necessary email collection and delivery configuration; presenting a card does not automatically supply a usable email address.

If the chosen route requires staff assistance, give the venue a clear request process. Do not promise a built-in printer or automatic email delivery that is outside the supply scope. Keep sensitive payment data out of ordinary support messages.

The customer-prompt sign-off guide helps coordinate wording. Use the support-file template when a guest reports an unfamiliar charge.
