Place a tray, a menu stand and a waiting customer beside a proposed rental cabinet. The reader position that looked convenient on an empty counter may now be awkward to reach or difficult to see. A physical inspection should reproduce the venue’s ordinary obstacles before the final placement is accepted.

For a UK power-bank rental project, make a reader-position record with photographs, observed problems and a named person responsible for resolving them. This is a practical usability inspection, not a certified accessibility assessment or proof that every guest can use the installation independently.

Inspect the whole movement, not the contactless symbol

The guest first needs to read the price, then approach the reader, follow its actual instruction and remove the released battery. Treat those as separate movements. A prominent contactless mark is insufficient if a keypad is blocked or an inserted card would hit the counter edge.

WisePad 3 includes a display and PIN pad. Its supported interaction should remain usable in the supplied mounting arrangement. The operator should not assume every transaction finishes with a tap, or design the installation around one tall staff member’s comfortable reach.

Inspection station What to observe Record before accepting placement
Price-reading position Glare, viewing angle and whether the guest blocks the queue Photograph from the customer’s approach
Card presentation Clear approach to the reader in the agreed mount Successful controlled interaction without moving equipment
Card insertion and PIN Space for the requested action and reasonable privacy Obstruction or reach issue and agreed correction
Release and return Access to battery slots without stretching across another task Observed borrow-and-return movement
Cables and service access Visible strain, snagging and movement during use Supplier-approved routing and inspection owner

Use more than one observer

Invite people with different practical viewpoints to try the proposed position, including a seated approach where suitable. Ask them to describe what they cannot see or reach. Record the observation without assuming that one successful trial proves compliance with all accessibility obligations.

Do not prescribe a universal height or distance from a generic photograph. The actual cabinet, mount, furniture, building and guest requirements determine what needs review. Obtain suitable specialist advice when necessary, and have physical changes made through the approved installation process rather than improvising a bracket or cable extension.

Check the installation during ordinary venue activity

A hotel counter can fill with luggage during check-in; a café counter can change during cleaning. Repeat the inspection with the venue team at a representative operating moment. Establish which adjacent objects may be moved and which space must remain clear.

The UK reader-route guide helps choose the operating setting. This inspection adds a specific physical acceptance record to that decision. The PIN and cancellation walkthrough can then test how the chosen position behaves during a real customer interaction.

Keep the local payment and cabinet route intact

Stripe’s UK guidance lists WisePad 3 and GBP Terminal transactions with the appropriate UK account and Location. The operator normally buys and registers the reader through its own eligible local account. Confirm the intended attended or unattended installation separately; a usable position does not by itself establish permission for every setting.

CoreCharge’s matched route runs the native Android rental application and Terminal SDK inside the cabinet. The reader uses the agreed data and power connection, without an external cashier phone as the normal host. Stripe processes payment into the operator’s account; CoreCharge connects the order, dispensing, return and pricing.

Finish with a usable operating instruction

Photograph the accepted arrangement and identify who will keep the area clear. Reinspect after furniture moves, mount replacement or a change in venue workflow. Review the CoreCharge reader-ready cabinet solution, then share photographs of the proposed UK counter and customer approach. The next useful output is a placement review tied to the actual supplied cabinet.
